Going Back to the Roots Where the Money Is.

While trying to do this post I got a message from Google that I exceeded the maximum photo upload storage which was non existent before. A 10 MB is hardly a useable free storage. Since majority of this blog is photo base I have no choice but to upgrade and buy a storage space every year. I guess everyone is really feeling the budget crunch. The effect of current economy is so obvious in Milan’s Men’s fall/winter 2009-2010 fashion week. Almost every designers went back to the safe mode and showed a collection based on their best sellers. I swear almost every show looks like the brand commercial pre-collection pieces.

Also anyone who would try to wear the ski short on the alps deserve his legs Thom Browne’s offering for Monclear-Gamme Bleu deserve his legs amputated due to extreme frost bites.

Here are some of big things I’ve noticed too:

A sea of black and gray clothes dominated the Milan’s show.

-The colour red either in bright red or mostly in wine burgundy tone is the accent colour of the season.

-Different interpretation of a pea coat.

-Double breasted suits

-Quilted pieces: pants, suits, on the knee of the pants, on the shoulder of a blazer or coat.

-Textured or painted suits.

-Fur scarf, vest or coat

-Reptile leather or embosed reptile textured leather clothes

-Vest or Waist Coat is staple item for layering clothes.


My top five shows in Milan are
1) D&G – I love those rococo and brocade inspired shirts, pants, and jackets
2) Dolce & Gabanna- Those ribbon basket weaving techniques in their jackets are to die for
3) Neil Barrett – those hybrid coats are very interesting and those shoes are beautiful
4) Jil Sander- the shape and the woven knits are simply divine.
5) Etro – The art deco inspired coats are fabulous.
